We respond to all requests the same day – usually in a few hours.
Appointments FAQ
How do I make a doctor or nurse appointment?
We ask all patients who are able to use the internet to request an appointment using our online form.
This is for any type of appointment – including doctor’s appointments or nurse appointments.
This includes same day appointments, as well as routine appointments.
Make your request online now and we’ll message you back as soon as we can – always on the same working day.
Request your appointment online
- Request an appointment online – even if you need a same-day appointment
- Keep your phone with you – we’ll call or text later that day, usually within an hour or two
- Give us as much detail as possible so we can triage your request
- You don’t need to call us – unless something changes or don’t hear from us in 24 hours.
How do I make an urgent appointment?
Please still request your appointment online.
A clinician will read your request and get back to you, usually within a few hours. You don’t need to call us, unless something changes or you don’t hear back in 24 hours.
We always have on-the-day appointments, and we prioritize requests for these.
Can I call you to make an appointment?
If you can use the internet, please request an appointment online.
There’s no reason to call us – as the receptionist will need to fill in the same form with you over the phone. Please try and keep our phonelines free for our most vulnerable patients.
We use this system to ‘triage’ requests. We believe it’s a much fairer way of providing care. The old system of calling at 8am and allocating appointments ‘first come, first served’ was often unfair and lead to long telephone queues and lots of frustration.
Who will see me at my appointment?
We offer a variety of appointments with different clinicians.
- GPs and other qualified doctors, including GPs in training
- Nurses, including Advanced Nurse Practitioners
- Physiotherapists
- Pharmacists
- Physician Associates
- Mental Health Nurses.
We offer appointments:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
- on a video call
- by text or email
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
How do I cancel or change an appointment?
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- phone us on 020 7138 7150 (Rushey Green) or 020 8857 5682 (Baring Road), Monday to Friday from 8am to 6.30pm
- click on the link on your appointment reminder text message.
To change your appointment:
- send us a message online, with at least 24 hours notice.
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
To request a home visit, it’s helpful if you contact us as soon after 8am as possible.
